Camping in the Forest to expand network
Work is underway on building a brand-new Camping in the Forest site in the famous Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire, which is also a National Nature Reserve.
The site will be named Sherwood Pines and will feature more than 150 pitches across 20 acres of woodland.
It will be a full-facility site, with hardstandings and electric hook-ups, a reception office, an amenity block and it is also set to be home to a number of glamping units. What’s more, the new site will be open all year to campers.
Nathan Goodyear, Director of Property and Development, said: “Sherwood Pines has been long in the planning and we’re excited to have started work preparing the ground on site.
“Our work includes the laying of foundations for reception buildings and facility blocks, landscaping, development of hardstanding areas and construction of site roads, which will be carried out sympathetically and with respect for this famous forest.”
He added: “Sherwood Pines is a popular attraction in Nottinghamshire. A new campsite here will support the local economy and help visitors to enjoy the woodland area and its wildlife.”
The campsite will be a great base from which to explore the many activities provided by Forestry England, via its walking trails or by bike. There are also play areas, bushcraft experiences, a Go Ape aerial rope course and open air concerts, plus a Sherwood Pines café within the forest.
Sherwood Pines brings the total number of Camping in the Forest sites to 16 across England and Scotland and is set to open in mid 2020, with bookings open from January 2020.
