The T1 Camping Bus – an official licensed product – is a pretty faithful recreation of the iconic van that dates from 1950, with split windscreen and prominent VW nose badge.

The toy is kitted out as a campervan inside with a rock and roll-style rear seat bench that converts to a double bed, a mini kitchen unit plus a rear-facing dinette seat and flip-up side table, rear of a cab bench seat. The barn-style entry doors house their own clever storage spaces and fold out tables, and there’s a rack with bungee cords for mounting luggage to the removable roof. Camping food, utensils, a camera and even a pair of toothbrushes complete the camping kit.

Fans of the original Volkswagen Beetle car will be pleased to know it too is now available as a Playmobil miniature (right).
