The Club will host a new-look national event, the Torchlight Festival, for the first time in 2022.
The family-friendly festival relaunches the previous National Feast of Lanterns (NFOL), and will run from 19-22 August 2022 in Walesby Forest in Nottinghamshire.
The musical line-up is set to include high-profile household acts such as Squeeze and Gabrielle, with other notable names including TV’s Craig Charles, The Wurzels and tribute acts Noasis and The Ed Sheeran Experience, as well as a special performance from The Camping And Caravanning Club Band.
There will be three days of entertainment for all the family, including activities such as climbing, archery and ziplining, plus food kiosks, bars, a large organised campfire and the Wellness Sanctuary with guided yoga and forest bathing sessions.
The NFOL dates back to 1921, so it is steeped in Club heritage as an end of the summer season camping event where members could meet up, camp together and enjoy music. Interest peaked at 16,000 people at Stoneleigh in 1976 but with visitor numbers having dropped in recent years, the decision to keep the torch lit meant it needed a new look.
Club Director General Sabina Voysey said: “Now, 100 years on since the first NFOL, it is time for a new generation to carry the torch and for the Club to take the opportunity to reinvigorate a special festival, breathing new life into its line up and inspiring new followers to make memories of their own. From die-hard members to wide-eyed young explorers, this new event will offer everyone the chance to meet, camp, eat, dance and play in an enchanting woodland setting.”
Lighting-up was always a central part of the NFOL and a magical light trail will be a key part of the Torchlight Festival. Members are encouraged to light up their caravans, motorhomes and tents, and electric hook-ups will be available at £40 for the weekend.
Weekend Pitch and Entertainment tickets for families of two adults and up to four children are £199, and there will be options to stay from Thursday for an extra £25.60. There are also lower-priced options available (see below).
Regions, Sections, District Associations, Section Areas and families of more than eight units can book as a group. More information about the event will be revealed in this magazine and on the Club website in the coming months.
