Club buys Thornton's Holt Camping Park
The Club has purchased Thornton’s Holt Camping Park, a 13.5-acre campsite near Nottingham, from owners Polly and Simon Jones.
The large campsite can accommodate up to 175 tents, caravans and motorhomes and features a café and shop. It boasts impressive eco-credentials and features solar water heating, rainwater harvesting for flushing toilets, and recycled glass insulation beneath the washrooms.
It’s in a fantastic location that offers a wide variety of attractions, activities and scenic countryside, and has excellent transport links.
Sabina Voysey, Director General, said: “We’re really excited to acquire Thornton’s Holt, to build on the fantastic business that Polly and Simon have created and to strengthen our Club Site network.
“We’re delighted to have received the keys to Thornton’s Holt and look forward to raising the barrier for the first time as a Club Site during the 2024 season, when we will be ready to welcome existing and new campers to this lovely campsite.”
Polly and Simon said: “We were really keen to ensureThornton’s Holt continued to be a touring site that provided a warm welcome to our customers, and we felt The Camping and Caravanning Club would be the perfect organisation to take our legacy forward – it’s a fairytale ending for us.
“Our customers will still be able to enjoy their holidays here, which many of them see as their second home, and that’s really important to us.
“We wish the Club every success for the future.”
The Club took ownership of Thornton’s Holt on 1 November, and the campsite is temporarily closed for refurbishment work to begin its transition to a Club Site. It is scheduled to reopen early in the next camping season when it will be renamed Nottingham Club Site.
