Caravan and motorhome launch season is in full swing and Camping & Caravanning’s team has put in thousands of motorway and air miles to report on the 2019 season’s most exciting new models.
Here our team has listed six developments and models from European manufacturers that we reckon will star at the industry shows and on dealer forecourts later in the year.
Keep an eye on our magazine website for our full preview reports, images and video content, but until then here’s a taster:
1. Chausson’s innovative family van
Franch manufacturer Chausson has streamlined its motorhome offering for 2019, and the most eye-catching model that will be available here is the Flash 634, a compact five berth with five travel seats, with a Duo Bed system that lowers bunk beds into space above the front lounge at the push of a button, and a drop down double bed at the rear.
Also at the rear is a new Easy Box system, with 300 litres of storage in lockers sited around a children’s dinette. These storage units can be raise to increase space in the garage underneath.

2. Rapido goes for roomier lounges
One of the most interesting new models from French manufacturer Rapido is the 686F (main picture).
It’s got the in-vogue lounge area of face-to-face seat benches, and a central in-line 150cm-wide island bed at the rear.
The lounge table has a fixed leg and folding top, which makes access from cab seats to living quarters a breeze. The rear bed has a retractable frame to increase living space when not in use, and is also electrically height adjustable by 20cm, with wardrobes on either side. An electric drop-down bed is an option up front.

6. Bürstner’s all new and lovely low profiles
Bürstner Ixeo
The big news from German manufacturer Bürstner – the largest single motorhome brand in Europe and the biggest selling Hymer Group brand in the UK – is the launch of the Ixeo T range of low-profiles. Four models complete the line up, and interesting there’s the option of adding a second sky roof, the electrically operated XL Premium, for those who don’t fancy opting for a drop down bed over the front lounge.
