In 2010, Triumph put a three-cylinder engine inspired by the Street Triple 675 into a steel trellis chassis and launched the Tiger 800 range. The Hinckley firm’s first real foray into the off-road sector, the new Tigers quickly became best-sellers. 2014 saw six revised models launched to widespread acclaim – the road-focused XR, XRx and XRT, and the off-road biased XC and XCx and XCA.
I’d better admit that I’m not fully impartial – in my garage there’s a Triumph Adventurer 900 that’s carried me for 34,500 miles. That’s almost one-and-a-half times around the world. When I think of a Triumph I think of great build quality, good looks, and a strong engine.
