Sudeley Castle

Sudeley

Sudeley

Sudeley Castle's present structure was built in the 15th century and is one of the few castles left in England that is still a private residence.

The castle is situated near the charming Cotswold town of Winchcombe and is home to unique art by Turner and Rubens.

Following its ‘slighting’ on Cromwell’s orders at the end of the Civil War, Sudeley lay neglected and derelict for nearly 200 years, until rescued by John and William Dent, wealthy Worcester glove-makers, who began an ambitious restoration programme.
