Westbury White Horse

The Westbury White Horse is one of Southern England’s best known hill carvings and measures over 30 metres from head to tail.
It is positioned on the side of an Iron Age hill fort on the Salisbury plains, in the heart of rural Wiltshire.
It was created sometime before 1742 and the reason for its creation remains uncertain although it may be connected to the ascension of the House of Hanover to the British throne.
