Visiting Hever Castle and Gardens

Hever Castle and Gardens in Kent was Anne Boleyn's childhood home and has plenty for everyone to discover.

The double-moated castle is home to over 600 years of history, has 125 acres of grounds and gardens and always has something for everyone to enjoy during a visit.

Enjoy walking around the interior of the childhood home of the second wife of Henry VIII. Your Castle ticket price includes an audio guide, which you can use as you move through the panelled rooms.See fine furniture, tapestries, antiques and an incredible collection of Tudor portraits. One of the highlights is two of Anne Boleyn’s prayer books, which have her inscriptions and signature.

Hever Castle Fountain

Set on 125 acres, Hever Castle has spectacular grounds to explore year-round. There’s so much to discover, including a giant topiary chess set, 5,000 rose bushes, cascading fountains and much more. Walking the perimeter of the 38-acre lake takes around 1 hour and makes for a tranquil stroll nature lovers will enjoy. You can hire rowing boats and pedalos for another way to explore the lake.

There’s plenty of family fun on the grounds for all ages. The Mazes are great fun, especially the 100-year-old Yew Maze, which has twists and turns throughout the quarter of a mile of paths to get lost in. On a warm day, the Water Maze offers a refreshing reprieve. Just don’t forget your towel!

There are three play areas for little ones to burn extra energy and spend time exploring outdoors. There’s even the chance to try archery!

Getting to Hever Castle

Those driving to Hever Castle should use the postcode TN8 7NG. You can park for free at Hever Castle, which has ample accessible parking. On arrival, you’ll be directed to the best car park. It’s around a 30 minute drive to Hever Castle from our Crowborough Club Site in East Sussex.

Public transport options include a mix of train, taxi and walking. Disembark the train at Edenbridge Town Station, where you’ll need to order a taxi, or Hever Station, from which you can walk the remainder of the way. Plan your route on Trainline.
