Elan Valley

The Elan Valley is 72 square miles, made up of stunning scenery and adundant wildlife.

In an area of scentific interest, visit the Reservoirs, on foot or by cycle/mountain bike or car. 

Explore the Dams, a feat of engineering by the Victorians who created a 73 mile long aqueduct to take water to Birmingham, stop off for a picnic, some fishing or bird watching. 

The area is a designated International Dark Sky, a star gazers paradise, a great place to watch meteor showers, best seen in the Spring and Autumn.

Directions

From Rhayader
by car - follow B4518 west out of town, then turn left for the visitor centre.
by foot/cycle - head west on the B4518, on the left there is a public footpath/cycle path that follows the road, then turn left for the visitor centre
