Rusticus Craft Takeover
Withy Lantern Workshop
In our lantern making workshops families will work together to create large-size lanterns using traditional withy sculpture and tissue paper. Lanterns can be taken away to dry, then lit safely using LEDs, and carried triumphantly throughout one of our Lantern Adventure events! Delivered in character, by two Jolly Foresters, this workshop is part making activity, part performance!
Lantern Adventure
The Rusticus Lantern Adventure is an outdoor performance walk which makes most of the special atmosphere in between afternoon and evening! Audiences will join our two adventurers on a Journey Into Dusk to discover what creatures come out at night. They will take part in a whole host of interactive activities with a rather special moth, skilful owl, and a bat that just wants to rap – all under the warm glow of lantern light!
Magical Kingdom Adventure Trail
A themed trail event is an ideal way to engage larger sizes of audiences whilst managing the flow of people in a festival environment. This Summer’s theme is “Magical Kingdom” – an exciting journey into the world of the King & Queen of the Fairies, in which families meet the Rusticus trees and help them with a seasonal dilemma, whilst making a little magic of their own! The trail is hosted by two actors and contains a mixture of hosted and self-led activities. It is supported by beautiful way-farers and installations in keeping with the theme, plus a designed trail map! Families can experience the trail at their own pace but would be expected to take 30-45 minutes depending on space available.
Workshops – Magic Wands & Woodland Crowns
In our Magical making workshops, families will become immersed in a story of adventure and will enjoy making either a rustic magic wand or a woodland crown using foraged materials which they will then use to take part in the story. Part workshop, part performance these workshops are delivered by magical characters and are suitable for all the family to enjoy together. They can then take their wands or crowns on the Magical Kingdom Adventure Trail in the woodland area!

Every session starts with us learning The Waggle Dance, which is about the importance of bees, all while keeping kids active with high energy. A fun way to explore movement through self expression.
This dance workshop will be the talk of the kids tipi. From warm up games, making moves to the beat of the music & a mindful cool down.
Made for energetic kids who like to move- it move - it! Please Note: No previous dance experience necessary!
