A wonderfully secluded campsite hidden in the Welsh hills.
Rhandirmwyn (pronounced ran-dee-mo-n) Club campsite lies just outside the Brecon Beacons National Park. The name means ‘Valley of the minerals’ and is a lead mining area in the Towy Valley.
The campsite is situated in the middle of the valley and the lively River Towy run alongside it. The campsite is spacious and well set out with excellent facilities. Surrounded by hills and trees it’s ideal for families or individuals interested in walking, cycling or just relaxing.
There are many beautiful hill and river walks within easy reach of this campsite. The Cambrian Way passes through the edge of the site. The circular all-ability access trail in Cwmrhaeadr Forest, one-and-a-half miles from the campsite is perfect for cyclists. There are two nice pubs in the village, your reward for completing the steep climb up to them!
Head south from the campsite to the Usk reservoir in the National Park. An eight-mile trail wends its way around the shore. Fishing is available here too. The nearby Glasfyndd Forest also has great walking and cycling tracks.
Llyn Brianne reservoir is also worth a visit. The road around the reservoir has some breathtaking views. Also visit the subterreanean world of the National Showcaves Centre for Wales. As well as the caves you can visit the dinosaur park, shire horse centre and the Iron Age village. The 13th century hillside Carreg Cenne Castle is south of the campsite near the village of Trapp.
Don’t miss a visit to the RSPB Dinas Nature Reserve where you can spot red kites. You can see more red kites as well as ravens and buzzards at Gigrin Farm Bird reserve in the market town of Rhayader.

Lovely walks from site, lovely to be by the river, lots of wildlife seen on site including a Red Kite, and a slow worm in the dog walk! Site Wardens the friendliest and most helpful we've met!very dog friendly, I do get cross though that some people don't clean up after their dog! I end up doing it because I don't want to get the blame!

We stayed for four nights and discovered a gem of a site. The site nestles by a river and is bounded on all sides by hills. We loved the peacefulness and the sound of birdsong.
We were keen to cycle around the local area and were rewarded with fantastic views at the local reservoir and nature reserve but there was a lot of uphill work!
The area is remote and there are no local shops but the camp shop has a good supply of basics including local eggs.
There was no signal for using a mobile phone anywhere in the local area.
We came away refreshed and reminded again of the dedication of Campsite wardens who work so hard to provide excellent facilities to enable members have a great camping experience.
