Ideal site for exploring Teesdale & the Yorkshire Dales and outdoor pusuits.

If you’re looking for peace and tranquillity, a rural location with plenty of walking and cycling opportunities our Barnard Castle Club campsite is for you.

Located on the north eastern edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, handy for the attractions of Teesdale and within walking distance of Barnard Castle or Barney as it is known locally, the tree-lined campsite is the perfect place to relax and unwind.

This pretty tree-lined campsite has 90 pitches. The camping field is level and has a well placed modern facilities block offering showers/toilets, a laundry, disabled facilities, a parent and child room and a dish washing area.

There are plenty of walks direct from the site and an excellent dog walk for those who don’t want to venture too far. Children are catered for with a play area and the visiting fish and chip van comes highly recommended.

There’s fishing at Balderhead and Hury reservoirs to the west of the site.

For days out visit the Bowes Museum, Bolton Castle, the Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre, the Dales Countryside Museum and England’s highest unbroken waterfall, High Force.

Can't say enough Kudos for the 4 couples running the site.

Can't say enough Kudos for the 4 couples running the site. It was very busy due to the Bank Holiday but nothing was too much trouble and due to a previous health problem, offers of help was constantly forthcoming. The fish and chips was excellent and the toilet blocks were checked and tidied up3 times a day often as late as 11 pm. We enjoyed our stay

The campsite is very well looked after, good pitches, clean toilet blocks, helpful staff.

The campsite is very well looked after, good pitches, clean toilet blocks, helpful staff. The biggest downside was there were a lot of midges on the site. The person showing us to our pitch said not to worry they don't bite like those in Scotland - they do certainly bite. Now covered in bites. Some parts of site seemed less midge infested but where we were (to left just after entrance) it made sitting outside on an evening incredibly unpleasant. Barnard castle is a nice little town a good twenty minutes walk away down a steep woodland bank - not a walk for anyone unfit or not good on their feet. There is nothing anywhere near campsite in terms of pubs, shops etc. the fish and chip van on the Saturday evening was a welcome site. Lovely fish and chips which made the hour wait in the queue worthwhile - it was a very busy Saturday night on the campsite. Would go back. Just might choose a time of year where midges less common.
