Sit back and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this campsite, the plentiful wildlife and the wonderful views. Windermere is not only spacious, it’s well laid out and boasts many environmentally-friendly facilities. There is a separate tent camping area, backpacker facility, a family camping area, children’s play area and a 4* rated pub restaurant The Whistling Pig.

There are many walks from the campsite. Across the fields is the village of Staveley as well as a shop, supermarket and a couple of pubs the Hawkshead Brewery is here too. There are more walks to enjoy from the village including Potters Fell and Reston Scar.

Bowness-on-Windermere offers plenty of water-based activities including cruises, canoeing and wind surfing and attractions including The World of Beatrix Potter and Aquarium of the Lakes. Take the chain ferry to the western side of the lake and visit the pretty village of Hawkshead and Claife Heights, National Trust woodland great for walking, cycling and wildlife spotting. This review is for Windermere

Although we would recommend Windermere not only for the welcome given by the holiday site managers but the good amenities there. The only gripe we have is the laundry facilities are not good the washing machines and dryers do not give satisfactory service. ie mop heads are washed and dried in them which is not hygienic when members need to wash laundry afterwardsSpart from these comments the site is perfect and remains one of our favourites..

We found the location convenient from the M6 North exit.

This review is for Windermere

We found the location convenient from the M6 North exit. Read the approach instructions carefully, the final left hand turn, off the main road, comes quickly and can catch you out. Hard standings were in good condition and allowed us to site and peg the awning. The site location is away from light pollution which allows the visitor to enjoy the night skies - ideal for star-gazers. Stavely is worth a visit and within walking distance from the site - for the more active walkers, the 7-miles to Windermere is enjoyable hover in wet weather boots are essential. The acid test for any site is, 'would we return'; it's a definite YES. See you there!

Stopped here this weekend for the first time. Cannot believe we've not stopped here sooner.

This review is for Windermere

Stopped here this weekend for the first time. Cannot believe we've not stopped here sooner. It's ideally located in the heart of the countryside but not far from Kendal or Windermere. It's quite a large site but it doesn't feel like that as the pitches are placed in different areas & settings. The facilities are spotless and numerous and the staff are very friendly and helpful. This may be the first time we stop here but it definitely will not be the last as it'll now be on our regular site list for weekends aways. I really cannot think of a nicer site we've ever stopped on in all our years of caravanning/motor-homing.
