Water-based fun, walking and the attractions of the Lakes are accessible from this site.

Our family-friendly Windermere Club campsite is betwixt popular Bowness-on-Windermere and the bustling market town of Kendal. Its location makes it ideal for exploring both towns and the varied attractions of the southern Lake District.

Sit back and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this campsite, the plentiful wildlife and the wonderful views. Windermere is not only spacious, it’s well laid out and boasts many environmentally-friendly facilities. There is a separate tent camping area, backpacker facility, a family camping area, children’s play area and a 4* rated pub restaurant The Whistling Pig.

There are many walks from the campsite. Across the fields is the village of Staveley as well as a shop, supermarket and a couple of pubs the Hawkshead Brewery is here too. There are more walks to enjoy from the village including Potters Fell and Reston Scar.

Bowness-on-Windermere offers plenty of water-based activities including cruises, canoeing and wind surfing and attractions including The World of Beatrix Potter and Aquarium of the Lakes. Take the chain ferry to the western side of the lake and visit the pretty village of Hawkshead and Claife Heights, National Trust woodland great for walking, cycling and wildlife spotting. Fell Foot Park at the southern tip of the lake is perfect for picnics or a swim in the lake.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Camping Pods are also available at this campsite.

The only downside was the whistling pig pub in site which I will point out is not ran by the owners of the site - they were great. The staff in the pub weren't however especially when asked about why dogs weren't allowed in particularly when the site itself welcomes dogs. It was a case of well that's the rule there are too many dogs to allow them in - even though there was ample room to segregate an area. We did however have a great trip despite this as we just chose to eat and drink elsewhere where our dig was as welcome as we were

Stayed for 2 nights midweek and I could not fault any of the staff. Very informative as we walked to Windermere and were given clear instructions by a very helpful member off staff. Nearest town in stave key which has pubs and a few shops, if you walk it's all fields and stiles to climb over so good footwear required ! . Showers and toilets are very clean, good washing facilities , only downside is although it's called Windermere its approx 7 miles away from the town centre so the name of the site could be a little misleading. We will be revisiting this site , as we thought it was a lovely place to go. Thanks to all the staff again and keep up the good work !
