Overview

Discover Dorset's beautiful beaches & surrounding area from our Moreton campsite.

Dorset’s beautiful beaches, heath and downlands are all accessible from our Moreton Club campsite located in the heart of Wessex and surrounded by Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Our 120-pitch site is open and spacious with a good range of facilities, including two amenity blocks, a small children’s play area and a dog walk.

Moreton station next to the campsite is on routes to Weymouth, Poole and Bournemouth and the bus stop, half a mile from site, will take you to the pretty county town of Dorchester where you can enjoy a number of walking trails including the Thomas Hardy trail and the Roman Town Walk. The town’s Borough Gardens has tennis courts, a bowling green and a children’s play area and hosts a number of events through the summer including live bands and a teddy bear’s picnic.

Head to the sleepy village of Moreton and stop off at the Tearooms, situated in the old school at Moreton for a cream tea. Thomas Edward Lawrence, popularly known as “Lawrence of Arabia” is buried in the church here. A more elaborate memorial can be found at St. Martins church, Wareham.

The village forms part of the “Lawrence of Arabia Walking Trail. The walks take in Bovington, Clouds Hill, Moreton Church and Lawrence’s grave.

Attractions in the area include the Tank Museum at Bovington, Monkey World Ape rescue Centre in Wareham and Lulworth and Corfe Castles. For the best beaches, head to the circularLulworth Cove, Kimmeridge Bay – great for rock pooling and swimming – and the blue flag beach at Swanage.

Centrally located for visits to Swanage, Lulworth, Weymouth and towns and villages inland.

This review is for Moreton

Centrally located for visits to Swanage, Lulworth, Weymouth and towns and villages inland. Spacious site with all the usual facilities and a warm welcome - even in November! Particular thanks to Austin (relief manager) who couldn't have been more helpful when we accidentally locked ourselves out of our motorhome. The only slight issue is the train horns which are fairly frequent, but they do stop overnight.

My initial welcoming was not as I might have expected, and poor compared to other sites I have visited. However this was an isolated incident and the other staff were very friendly and helpful. The site was conveniently located to close to the railway station and had good facilities I would return to the site.

On arrival I had the misfortune to fall and dislocate my shoulder.

On arrival I had the misfortune to fall and dislocate my shoulder. Within minutes I found myself in the capable hands of Alan & Paul two of the Holiday Managers who attended to me and contacted the Ambulance service. Alan was fantastic and I knew that I was in very capable hands. From that point onwards until we were able to be taken home by RAC Arrival all the Holiday Managers couldn't do enough for my wife and I. I owe them many thanks.

Great wardens, and good clean and tidy site.

This review is for Moreton

Great wardens, and good clean and tidy site. There could do with more showers and toilet cubicles. The TV reception is not good here, the site needs a plug in TV point, so come on the c&cc. The only let down in the disable shower, it is not powerful enough, and could do with an extra disable toilet/shower. Also the trains can be a pain, early and late, sounding there horn, other than that you would probably not hear them at night, when a sleep. The site is on a slope,so take some leg block's. Would we stay again, properly not, as we tend never to re-visit the same site. This was the first time visiting a C&cc site, we was not impressed, with not having bins close to the toilet blocks, had to drive to take recycling/waste items right down to the far end of the site, come on the c&cc get up to date.

“Moreton is a real favourite of ours and we have been going there for years. Moreton is brilliantly run and extremely clean. It has a real community feeling and the grounds are always splendid. Over the years we have recommended many and it too has become their favourite.”
