The sandy beaches of Charmouth make this a popular family site.

Our pretty Charmouth Club campsite is perfectly located for exploring Dorset’s stunning Jurrasic coast and many popular resorts including Lyme Regis and Beer to the west and West Bay and Weymouth to the east.

Surrounded by rolling hills, this well-maintained campsite offers spacious pitches in small clusters bordered by trees and bushes. As well as the expected toilet and shower facilities, the campsite boasts a laundry, a well-stocked shop, children’s play area and dog walk.

If fossil hunting is on your holiday to do list, visit the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre for information. The beach here is a good place to start your hunt for fossils or head east from the campsite to the famous Chesil Beach.

For days out the beautiful Forde Abbey and gardens at Chard is a must. Abbotsbury Swannery is ideal for children or for something different, enjoy the stunning Axe Valley from the Seaton Tramway’s hot pink narrow gauge tram.

This is not really a coastal site.

This review is for Charmouth

This is not really a coastal site. We did however undertake a pleasant walk to Lyme Regis (useful and clear Directions were provided by Reception staff) but it took us a couple of hours each way and coming back was much harder than getting there as it was nearly all uphill. But the views were worth it and there was lots to do in Lyme Regis - including sampling the delights of their own micro brewery at the Mill.

This was our 1st ever trip in a motorhome & we found the site excellent.

This was our 1st ever trip in a motorhome & we found the site excellent. The staff were friendly & informative-especially the guy on the tractor(the maintenance man? The site is very clean & tidy & the hard standing pitches are spacious. It is a very quiet site & we loved it. The only downside for us was there was nowhere for our dog to have a run off the lead_ not even in the designated dog walking area- or woods as I would call it. I can understand t5he need to keep all dogs on leads on the site, but a bit over the top in the woods, where in 3days I never met another person let alone another dog. Because of this rather draconian rule we would probably not return to this site-which is a pity because it is a very good campsite.

This site is bigger than any club sites we have stayed at previously, however, because it is divided into different areas with bushes and trees it still has a small site feel when you are sitting outside your unit. There are two large playgrounds and some woodland so the kids had plenty of space to play - they loved the place. The short dog walk through the woods is nice if you have a small dog but you would need to drive to find somewhere where you can let dogs off the lead for a good run as there are no footpaths or walks accessible on foot from the site. In fact you would need to get in your car to get anywhere as it isn't within walking distance of anything. The coast and various attractions aren't far away though so as long as you are mobile it isn't a problem. We were up the end by the big facilities block so number of showers/toilets etc was fine - I always found them clean with lots of hot water. The whole site was well maintained. Will probably return as the children are begging us already to book again.
