The sandy beaches of Charmouth make this a popular family site.

Our pretty Charmouth Club campsite is perfectly located for exploring Dorset’s stunning Jurrasic coast and many popular resorts including Lyme Regis and Beer to the west and West Bay and Weymouth to the east.

Surrounded by rolling hills, this well-maintained campsite offers spacious pitches in small clusters bordered by trees and bushes. As well as the expected toilet and shower facilities, the campsite boasts a laundry, a well-stocked shop, children’s play area and dog walk.

If fossil hunting is on your holiday to do list, visit the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre for information. The beach here is a good place to start your hunt for fossils or head east from the campsite to the famous Chesil Beach.

For days out the beautiful Forde Abbey and gardens at Chard is a must. Abbotsbury Swannery is ideal for children or for something different, enjoy the stunning Axe Valley from the Seaton Tramway’s hot pink narrow gauge tram.

We've (myself, my husband and 2 boys 7 & 9) recently returned from visiting Charmouth, initially when we booked this site, the only available pitches were grass pitches with no electricity,we have a caravan and although this was disappointing, we went ahead and booked anyway as we were in the area for a family wedding and wanted to extend our break. I requested, in the suggestions box, that if a pitch with electric hook up became available, we'd happily take it. We arrived in pouring rain, the lady in the reception was incredibly welcoming and friendly, taking time to speak to our 2 boys, the layout of the site was explained, including emergency info, numbers etc... and to our immense relief given the weather, we had been allocated a hard standing pitch with electric! joy of joys. The rain didn't stop at all for the whole time we were there, so by the time we came to pack up, that hard standing pitch was even more of a delight. Despite the relentless rain, the toilet block and shower facilities were kept clean and fairly mud free, there were mops and buckets readily available to use after showers, I only wish every one had the common sense to wipe up their grassy, muddy footprints after their showers. My only gripe. In short the site was fantastic, the kids loved the freedom of pedalling about on their bikes and making various friends at the playarea. The food from the fish and chip van was delicious and the couple running it were very friendly and chatty. The site is very close to Lyme Regis and Charmouth beaches, perfect for fossil hunting ( in the wind and driving rain!) and not far away was Fleet Air arm Museum, an excellent rainy day activity, if that kind of thing is of interest.Pitches were lovley and well spaced out, the site is large but you wouldn't know it due to the design and layout of the pitches. We will visit again, but can I pre book the sun shine please!.

We were pleased to find we had a very large hardstanding in a large open green space at the very furthest end of the campsite, referred to on our amended booking confirmation as pitch type 'Overspill'. Unfortunately the toilet and shower facilities at this end of the site are woefully inadequate for the amount of people using them, and due to the very inclement weather we had it was a long wet walk to the larger modern block in what was the original C&CC site. The site is well placed for visits to Lyme Regis, Charmouth and the surrounding area.

I suggest that signs should be displayed around the site to remind drivers of the speed limit since we experienced several drivers going far too fast even when there were many young children on bicycles.
