Tranquillity close to the heart of England on a campsite in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

This Club campsite sits on the edge of one the Midlands’ most popular beauty spots, Cannock Chase. A combination of natural deciduous woodland, coniferous plantations and open heathland the Chase – England’s smallest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – offers boundless adventure and fun for walkers, mountain bikers and dog lovers alike and is perfectly located for exploring the attractions of Cannock, Lichfield, Birmingham and the surrounding area.

Our pretty campsite here is well laid out and bordered by trees. It offers level hardstanding pitches, while grass pitches tend to be sloping. In addition to showers and toilets, the site offers washing up facilities, a site shop offering basic provisions and a family room and there is direct access from the site onto the Chase.

The Chase is definitely the big appeal of this site. As well as its bountiful wildlife, it offers endless walking and miles of exhilarating mountain bike trails, including the famous Follow the Dog trail and new Monkey Trail, which start from Birches Valley Forest Centre.

Worth Noting

Some pitches are sloping and chocks will be needed. Poor TV and mobile reception on site.

An absolute corker of a site, Arrival on site was pleasent, wardens staff friendly and explained all locations of the facilities etc. warden helped getting on pitch and made sure we were ok. Site spotless clean and tidy, showers kept clean and tidy again spotless. Throughout 4day/night stay everyone was very helpful, site was quiet at night and plenty of things to do in the day with cannock chase being close,. Nice country pub within walking distance, also woodland walks. Overall a very nice site, freindly wardens, great location again would revist. only draw back was the climb up the hill to site on narrow road, quite steep in places.

Firstly I've given 5* for facilities because they were spotlessly clean BUT with a full site in school holidays I would imagine smallness of amenities may be a problem. Secondly, I've said "easy" for site access when towing which it was BUT we didn't find the map easy to follow and ended up approaching the site in the opposite direction and signposting was sadly lacking. Probably our fault for not being able to follow the printed travel hints. It's hard to say who would benefit from a stay on this little site since much would depend on when you went and how acgtive you are. Outside of school holidays, when there is less strain on facilities, the site would be suitable for most people. There is a bit of a slope to and from the toilets etc if you are parked at the back so some might find that a problem. There is a very good walk through the woods either at the back of the site or from across the road and this runs for a lot of the route alongside the road. It is also very steep in places. What this site isn't though is PEACEFUL. The road that runs across the top of the site, the one you arrive on, doesn't strike as a particularly busy one but it is used by mad motor cyclists who seem to think that they have to rev and speed just as they pass the site. Road noise is a constant background hum which you do get used to during the day. Not so early in the morning of course. Shame because it is a very pretty little site, well run and beautifully maintained by the dedicated and extremely friendly staff. The site book does warn you that all tent pitches slope and they do not exagerate. Would we go back - unfortunately no but only because of the motor bike noise.

Arrival on site was pleasent, wardens friendly and explained where the facilities were etc. Chose pitch warden helped getting on pitch and made sure we was ok. Site clean and tidy, showers a bit dated compared to other sites but spotless. Throughout our two night stay the wardens took time to advise the best walks, information etc and were very helpful, site was quiet at night and plenty of things to do in the day with cannock chase on your doorstep. Nice country pub within walking distance, also bike trails and woodland walks. Overall nice site, freindly wardens, great location.
