Chertsey is on the banks of the Thames, just a 30-minute train ride from London.

This lovely riverside campsite is an oasis in the suburbs. It has a really rural feel yet is just a 30-minute train ride to London from the Weybridge station. It’s also perfectly placed for visiting some of the country’s best-loved theme parks (Lego Land, Thorpe Park and Chessington), as well as the world-famous Kew, Wisely and Savill gardens. Hampton Court and Chelsea flower shows are also within easy reach from here.

This popular site is on the banks of the River Thames. Bag yourself a riverside pitch and watch the many pleasure craft sail by. Walkers will enjoy the Thames Path Nature Trail, a towpath leading to Staines.

The sheltered site provides great facilities for campers, including a games room with TV and table tennis table.

Worth Noting

Tow Cars must remain on site overnight due to the possibility of flooding. The site is outside the Congestion Charge and Low Emission Zones. Fishing is available 16 June-15 March. Super Service pitches have TV aerial sockets. The Weybridge station is located 4 Miles from the campsite. Those with motorhomes who wish to use this station are advised to use a taxi when possible.

WiFi

100% coverage cannot be guaranteed due to rural location, weather conditions and changing flora or fauna. These can cause variable signal strength. Hotspots are available.

Eat Local

The farm shop in Lyne (approx. 10 min drive) sells a range of home-grown fruit and vegetables as wellas goose eggs, fresh bread, chutney, jams and more.

It isn't a quiet and peaceful retreat - on the flight path for Heathrow and beside a busy road, but this site is really well located for exploring the south east or getting into London. The site managers are really hard-working and friendly, they are clearly proud of their site. The facilities were clean and plentiful. There is a Spar shop in the garage opposite and you can walk into town in 10 minutes. The main reception has a few essentials for sale and there is also a hot-food concession on site (breakfasts and evenings). There were all sizes of units using the site - from single occupancy tents, to huge caravans and everything in between - so access isn't a problem. We visited Brighton, London and several National Trust properties during our week and had a really lovely time.

Pros; Good Location for train into London ( 25mins walk to nearest Station + 1 hr train journey into London Waterloo ) Legoland ( 25mins walk to station + 40 min train to Winsor Eton Riverside + 15 min bus from Winsor to Legoland ) Nearby Chertsey Town centre ( 20 min walk ) has a really good fish and chip on main front street. There is also a fabulous small Italian Deli which serves really good coffee and panini's, this is on the left hand side of a side street running up to the Train Station. Cons; Heavily shaded site, Directly under Flight path to Heathrow, very noisy every 10 - 15 mins during peak hours. If on a pitch near the riverside the Wear is very noisy especially if it is warm and you leave your Motorhome/Caravan windows open during the Evenings. Toilets and showers dated, although wear kept fairly clean.

We had originally booked for the end of May but cancelled due to bad weather. I was surprised that we were offered the chance to rebook, at no extra cost. The pitches were well-spaced out and reasonably level. Toilet/shower facilities were clean with plenty of hot water. Only had to queue 1 morning for a shower! Kids enjoyed the play park. We used the train twice - once to get to Kew Gardens and for a day in central London. My only gripe would be the noise from the motorways and Heathrow flightpath - but to be so close to London outweighed the noise! We asked to be sited close to the river, not realising that the weir would make as much noise as the motorway! Our son loved spending an hour or so watching boats in Chertsey lock; had the weather been better we would have walked along the river further. We'll be back next time we want easy access to the bright city lights!

Lovely site and staff very helpful and friendly. Site well maintained. There is a good dog walk 5 mins away. Very child friendly with park area and safe for them to cycle around camp. The Boat House restaurant approx. 5 mins away is recommended and you get discount too. The site has many trees giving it a countryside feel rather than town centre. Good public transport access. Will visit again. No road noise but some noise from planes landing at Heathrow but did not disturb
