Outdoor cooking doesn’t get more authentic than using a Dutch oven over an open fire. They can be tricky to use, though, and an open fire needs to be tended and managed carefully to control its temperature. One easy way to do this is to suspend the pot over the fire using a tripod and chain. This way, you can adjust the height of the pot to change from a rolling boil to a simmer easily, just by moving the pot down or up.
