Any kind of Volkswagen campervan seems to stir something within your camping soul that no other unit can – at least that’s how I feel. So it was with great excitement that I was able to take our latest long-term test unit – the VW California Ocean – out on two separate camping trips in the last few months.
The initial and lasting impression the California gives if you spend any time in it is one of quality. Everything is sturdy, solid and built to last. One of my main tests for measuring this is keeping an ear out for rattles, squeaks and bangs when driving the unit – and I can tell you the California is like a village library in this regard.
