Motorhome converters have been making good campervans based on the Ford Transit almost since its launch in 1965. They generally cost significantly less than a Volkswagen conversion of equivalent quality, but they’ve never been particularly successful. My guess is that this is because the Transit is a great load lugger but sadly it hasn’t scored highly for looks. However, this could be about to change with the launch of the UK’s first conversion on the latest Transit incarnation, known as the Custom.
