A taste of Wales: laverbread and cockles

To dispel a common culinary misconception, laverbread is not bread. It’s seaweed. Laver (‘Bara lawr’ in Welsh) is a particular type of edible seaweed (porphyra umbilicalis). It's grows around the UK’s western shorelines, yet it is only really Welsh cuisine that has adopted it with any passion.
