Visiting Chislehurst Caves
This is a huge underground labyrinth of manmade tunnels and caverns stretching over a distance of more than 22 miles (35 kilometres). Researchers believe parts of the network date back to 1250 AD (or earlier) when they were mined for their chalk and flint. They were used during WWI as an ammunition storage facility and as an air raid shelter during WWII. Chislehurst Caves have also been used as a film location for TV shows such as Dr Who and even a music concert.
