While on a District Association (DA) meet I’d heard that a neighbouring DA was struggling to find a Treasurer. I was asked whether I could come along to the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and see whether the role was for me.   So on the day of the Avon (Bristol) DA AGM the whole family trundled off to a hotel near Weston-super-Mare and, with a promise to my two boys (then six and three) that we would venture on to the beach afterwards, we sat in on our first AGM and Committee meeting.
